Paul Heffernan ~ paintings and collage
Most of the work in this show was done during the Winter of 2023. I’ve always used a lot of color, but these pieces are unusually bright and vibrant for me. I’m sure I had Summer and the Granite Gallery in mind when I made them.
Artist Statement / Bio:
After working a regular job for 30 years, Paul Heffernan resumed making art in a serious way in 2013. Subsequently, he studied painting at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts and had work selected for juried shows in the Boston area. Since moving to Maine in 2018, he has been a studio resident at 26 Split Rock Cove in South Thomaston, and an online member of the Yellow Chair Salon in Brooklyn, NY. “Cardboard Etc.”, a two-person show that Paul participated in at Cushing’s Arts In The Barn gallery in 2022, featured work he made with cardboard and reused/recycled materials. Paul’s work is abstract and modernist, and can incorporate painting, paper, collage and hand-built surfaces.
